This is an original copy from The
Nottingham Evening News on 7th December 1948. The caption
reads:- Some of the
youngsters at the Lenton Council Infants' School enjoying lollipops
today, part of a Christmas gift of sweets from mothers and children
of the Eastside School, Washington, Ohio, USA. "They're
real ones aren't they ?" was the wondering remark of Tina Smith,
aged four, a pupil at Lenton Council Infants' School, as she sucked
a bright orange lollipop, a present from America. The lollipops
were a Christmas present from parents and friends of the children
at Eastside School, Washington, Ohio, USA where Miss N.A. Gullick,
Head Teacher of Lenton Infants' School is spending a year under
the teachers exchange scheme and were distributed to the four and
five-year-olds of the school today.
