Lenton Council Boys School
1910-11

 Standard 2 Lenton Council Boys School taken 1910-11.  The photograph belonged to Herbert Green who is the boy standing on the back row on the extreme right.  He recalled in 1981 that:
The teacher was Miss Burroughs/Burrows, known by the boys as 'Rabbit Hole'.  This nasty woman gave me four or five strokes of the strap because the boy next to me had all his five sums right - a thing he had never done before.  The teacher in Standard 1 at that time was Miss Broughton.  Others I can remember were Wood(s), Ashton a devil with his cane, Randall a tall rather pleasant man.  The deputy was a Mr Watkinson, I think and the headmaster was Mr Crofts.
