Time For A Tea Towel?
The tea towels show Maureen's drawings of a number of buildings and local landmarks found in Wollaton Park, Lenton or Lenton Abbey. Included are the two churches, both of the gatehouses found on the Derby Road, an aerial view of the Queen's Medical Centre, and the Trent building on the University campus. The wrought iron gates on Lime Tree Avenue and the pump beside Lenton Lodge are both well known features but the milestone and the boundary stone also included on the tea towel may cause slight puzzlement. The boundary stone is the one shown elsewhere in this issue while the milestone, now rather ravaged by the passage of time, can be found on the Wollaton Park side of Derby Road up near Charles Avenue. With the thought of the festive period fast approaching, we would humbly suggest that the tea towels make ideal Christmas presents (*) (* Unfortunately, this has now sold out - September 2000) |
