The Filming Of Saturday Night And Sunday Morning - 1960

Nottingham Guardian Journal
Monday 4th April 1960

Work has begun on the filming of "Saturday Night and Sunday Morning,"- a best-selling novel by the Nottingham author, Alan Sillitoe.

On Saturday representatives of Woodfall Films chose extras to appear in crowd scenes in Nottingham's Old Market Square, which it was hoped could be filmed yesterday, but bad weather prevented it.

In our picture (above) are two of the girls chosen as extras, with two of the leading actors, Norman Rossington and Albert Finney.

Our picture on the left shows Albert Finney, Shirley Ann Field, Louise Dunn and Norman Rossington, in a rain-soaked Old Market Square yesterday.

Above below: The lion outside the Council House does not approve of Norman's clowning!
